College of Business
Bowling Green State University is a large public university located in the Ohio city of the same name. It offers a number of undergraduate degrees for students and allows students to take part in activities and clubs to make new friends and become more active. Also called BGSU, it offers a graduate program called a Master of Accountancy for students who want to take the CPA exam in Ohio or another state. Academic Programs

Central State University
College of Business
Central State University, also called CSU and Central State, is home to one of the top Bachelor’s in Accounting degree programs in Ohio. Cleveland State University
College of Business
Established in 1964, Cleveland State University opened after its founders noticed a lack of options for college students. It welcomes recent high school graduates as well as nontraditional students, including those who have years of work experience and those who earned a GED instead of finishing a high school diploma. CSU offers a number of opportunities for accounting students. Those students can major in business or a related field and minor in accounting. Defiance College designed its undergraduate accounting program for those who immediately want to go to work and those who plan on advancing their studies. Students can apply for a spot in the college’s Master of Business Administration (MBA) program, which has a concentration available in accounting, or they can move to another school to earn a graduate degree. Defiance also prepares students for working in entry-level positions in major accounting firms and in companies with an accounting department. The college offers a concentration in forensic accounting for those who want to work in cybercrime fields or research positions.

Franklin University
Bachelor’s Degrees
Franklin University is a large private university that has its headquarters in Columbus. Established in the 1960s, the school opened as a college for adult learners that offered opportunities for those who took time off from school. It expanded over the years as it purchased other campuses in the state. The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) granted the university the right to offer some doctoral degrees in the 2010s that further expanded the opportunities available to its students. In addition to its campuses, Franklin also has a virtual campus that allows students of all ages to take courses and earn degrees.
B.S. Accounting
One of the only online Bachelor’s in Accounting degree programs in Ohio available today is the B.S. Accounting program available from Franklin University. Designed for students who have less free time and those who live further away from one of its campuses, this program requires that students take and pass 124 semester hours of classes. This includes 28 credits from within the business core and 32 hours of accounting classes. The business core includes Principles of Finance, Principles of Management and Introduction to Microeconomics. Its major courses include Accounting Research and Analysis, Accounting Information Systems and Federal Income Tax.
B.S. Forensic Accounting
Though other schools offer students the chance to take some forensic accounting classes, Franklin offers one of the only Forensic Accounting degree programs in the state. This program requires that students take courses from different disciplines that include fraud examination, ethical standards and regulation compliance, electronic discovery and fraud reporting and litigation. These courses teach students how to do the research necessary to find evidence of fraud or criminal activity and the laws that they’ll need to follow when working in this field. Students also learn how to present their evidence to others in courtrooms and other settings. Students must maintain a 2.25 GPA in all accounting classes to remain in this program.

Heidelberg University
Academics
Heidelberg University offers a number of great opportunities for accounting majors. These students can sign up for the Berg-CFA Financial Competition Team. This team takes part in a major competition against teams from other schools. They work on a topic assigned to them and do the research necessary to write a paper and then present their work against the work done by other teams. The university also selects three students each year and awards those students scholarships to study at the graduate level. Winners also receive a graduate assistant position on the campus that helps them earn more money for school.
